Jam Station Music is a music school based in Nunawading, Victoria. We offer professional lessons in Guitar, Piano, Drums, Bass, Voice, Songwriting and Music Production. We’re conveniently located for families across Blackburn, Box Hill, Mitcham, Vermont and Forest Hill.
We follow a graded, proven syllabus that takes beginners through to advanced performance level. By following the Rock School and RGT@LCM syllabus, our lessons stay fun and relevant for younger students by focusing on contemporary music. This syllabus also allows for the serious students to work toward a recognised performance qualification if they choose.

The teaching studio in Nunawading is set up for one-on-one lessons. It caters across all instruments we teach, giving each student a dedicated, focused learning environment.
Meet Your Teacher — Pat Lajoie
Pat Lajoie is the founder and teacher at Jam Station Music. He is a Registered Guitar Tutor at the London College of Music (RGT@LCM). RGT@LCM organises exams in rock, acoustic, jazz, classical and bass guitar. Lessons are available from beginner to Diploma level, regulated by Ofqual with UCAS points available at grades 6–8.
He also prepares students for Rock School (RSL) exams, managed locally by AMEB.
As a performer Pat has played internationally across Jazz, Rock, Blues and Adult Contemporary styles. Including on cruise lines with Holland America, Princess and Cunard. In the past he has taught at two of Melbourne’s most well-known music stores, Allans Music and Billy Hydes Music. However now he teaches exclusively at Jam Station Music.
Pat holds a
- Master Certificate in Songwriting from Berklee College of Music.
- Professional Certificate in General Music Studies from Berklee College of Music.
- Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from RMIT University; and a
- Current Working with Children Card, Victoria.

What instruments do you teach?
We teach Guitar, Piano, Drums, Bass Guitar and Voice, with lessons available for complete beginners through to advanced students preparing for formal exams.
Where are lessons held?
Lessons take place at our studio at 132 Rooks Road, Nunawading, VIC 3131. We also offer online lessons via Zoom for students who prefer to learn remotely.
Do you offer a free trial lesson?
Yes, every new student can book a free 30 minute trial lesson before committing to ongoing lessons. It’s a chance to meet your teacher and ask any questions before getting started.
What ages do you teach?
We teach students of all ages, from young children through to adults. Lesson plans are tailored individually, so there’s no minimum or maximum age to get started.
Do you prepare students for music exams?
Yes, we prepare students for AMEB, Rock School (RSL) and RGT@LCM exams, depending on the instrument and student’s goals. These are internationally recognised qualifications, with UCAS points available at higher grades.
How much do lessons cost?
Single lessons start from $45 for 30 minutes. We also offer 5 and 10-week lesson bundles at a discounted rate. Full pricing details are available on our Pricing page.
